Canoe Trip 2015

Overview

A French open canoe classic! This guided trip will lead you down sections of the Ardeche River including the famous limestone Ardeche Gorge. The river is easy relaxed paddling with lots of grade 1-2 and some easy grade 3. You will be able to develop your canoe skills in either solo or tandem and will also get to bivi out for a night under the stars on a mini two day expedition. This trip is suitable for families, groups or individuals who would like to improve their canoe skills whist having fun in the sun!

Trip Information

Included in the price is: campsite fees, river shuttles, bivi site fee, expert guiding and tuition.
There is the opportunity to achieve BCU 3 star training or assessment if required by sufficient numbers.
Minimum age for overnight bivi trip is 7 years old.
 
Arrive at campsite Sunday July 19th 2015.
 
Mon     - open water day on lake.

Tues    - river skills day.

Wed     - river and beach day.

Thurs   - gorge expedition day one with overnight bivi.

Fri        - gorge expedition day two.
 
Leave campsite Saturday July 25th 2015.

Food

Camping

We will be staying at a campsite under our group booking. The campsite has toilets, showers, washing up sinks, swimming pool, and play area. You will need to bring your own tent and camping equipment.

Food

You will need to provide your own food and cooking equipment to prepare your own meals. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within a 15 minute drive of the campsite.

Transport

We will provide all shuttles to and from venues needed throughout your stay.
You can either drive out in your own car or fly to Nimes airport in France. We offer airport transfers, but this service is only available Saturday and Sunday mornings for a charge of £50 return. Please inform us in advance if you require this service.

Boats

Canoes are available to hire for £50 per boat per week if you are unable to bring your own boat.

Personal Equipment

You will need to provide all of you own personal paddling equipment.

Insurance

Inspiring Adventure holds full public liability insurance. However, you must have your own European medical insurance which covers you for canoeing on rivers up to grade 3. We also advise that you have your own personal and equipment insurance. We do not cover for personal boat loss or equipment damages.

What to do next

Please read the Terms and Conditions on the website, then complete a booking form and send it to us with a deposit payment of £200. The remaining amount must be paid one month before the trip commences. If you require any equipment hire or airport transfers this needs to be included with your final payment. Payment options can be discussed on an individual basis if necessary.

French Alps

Kayak and Canoe Trip

Overview

We are offering a week of summer paddling in the French Alps that can be tailored to suit your own personal needs. We can support you to improve your personal skills, leadership and coaching. You can choose to kayak, canoe or a mixture of both and similarly, both coaching and guiding are available.
 
There are also opportunities to achieve BCU qualifications if appropriate and we can arrange a package to suit you. The options are 3-5 star open canoe and kayak, Moderate and Advanced Water Endorsement canoe and/or kayak, White Water Safety and Rescue or Advanced White Water Safety and Rescue. Some qualifications are subject to registration and appropriate pre-requisites

Trip Information

We are based on a campsite which is a 10 minute walk from the town of L'Argentière-la-Bessée, on the banks of the Durance River. It has good showers, toilets and a small shop. We have a basecamp set up which includes a large group tent to be used as a social area with kitchen and dining area. You need to provide your own tent and sleeping equipment, but we do have tents available for hire upon request for £20 per week.
 
Next to the campsite there is a warm training lake and a class 3 slalom course (www.hautes-alpes.net/kayak-rafting/webcam-argentiere.html). A short 15 minute walk takes to you some good climbing and walking areas, including some via ferrata climbs.tes

Food

We will provide all food from Sunday evening until Sunday breakfast. Any special dietary requirements can be discussed prior to the course. We will supply all cutlery, crockery and chairs.

You can either drive out in your own car or fly to Torino airport in Italy. We offer airport transfers, but this service is only available Sunday mornings for a charge of £65 return. Please inform us in advance if you require this service.
